Putul Maity
26 Years old Putul Maity is a jovial girl. But since birth she is suffering from vitamin deficiency syndrome. Being a girl of a miserable family she was deprived from her very needed treatment and primary facility of daily life. Her world was nothing but a darkness. In this clouded situation her parents got a ray of hope when they came to Asha Bhavan Centre. They brought her and admitted in our residential home. Then she was 12 years old. She was improving gradually with our special care. Completing the primary education she went back to her own shelter. But our support was not finished. We had run our support. She was given educational materials and a tri-cycle for her better mobility. We are very pleased to say that Putul had appeared in higher secondary examination (WBCHSE), 2012 and successfully completed it. To recognize her talent in front of the masses she was selected for felicitation provided by the Directorate of Mass Education extension, Govt. of West Bengal. The programme conducted on 29th January at Rabindra Sadan, Kolkata. She was provided a certificate and sum of Rs. 3000/- as a token of felicitation for her successful completion of higher secondary examination.
But today many called her Putul Di, a Graduation perusing young member of Asha Bhavan Centre General Body, she also work as an assistant in project support unit. Though Putul is a wheel chair bound yet her limitation could not prevent her to move ahead in life and to lead a disability forum of Asha Bhavan Centre as a Secretary. After received various rehabilitation services now Putul live life independently and dream to become a Role model in the society. At present Asha Bhavan Centre got the approval from Rehabilitation Council of India to run Teachers Training College of Diploma in Special Education (Mental Retardation), now Putul admitted in the training course to understand the disabilities issues and to become a qualified professional in the field of disability rehabilitation .We all pray for her bigger achievement in future.
